It's so nice out...

We've been at the park, had picnics, went for walks, wore sunscreen, got sunburned anyway, blew bubbles, wore sunglasses, went for bike rides, wore shorts, got dirty, grilled, drew with chalk and soaked up as much fun in the sun as we could.

Welcome Spring!

Help!

I've been invaded by a red headed Clone Trooper.

Random Thoughts

1. Notice whose riding the bike in this picture? I'm not real confident that Carson (the bike's owner) will be riding it this summer. Something tells me his younger brother will figure this out long before he does. He's informed me that he'll learn when he's five...which is just a few weeks away.

2. I wonder how many more freckles we'll add to arsenal this summer? The snow has finally melted which has led the boys to believe its time to go swimming outside and wear our Crocs everywhere. Oh and no jackets. I think they were as eager to shed those winter layers as I was.

3. Declan has become a real class clown lately. I can only imagine what he'll be like in school next year. The other day he had a bloody nose. When I tried to explain to him that it was blood on his shirt he insisted that it was ketchup snot. I can't make this stuff up.

4. We've made it 5 years without a single visit to the ER (knock on wood). Something tells me my days may be numbered with these two. I'm just waiting for my first broken bone.

5. This little dude turns 6 months next week. Don't you just want to eat those legs? I know I do. He's sporting his brand new pair of Baby Legs. Trevor seems to think they are tights but I tried to inform him that he was wrong. Tights have feet silly!

6. Trevor can't seem to figure out why his back is bad. This is a regular evening occurrence in our house. See number 4....an ER visit has to be in my future.

7. Carson's preschool class went to the fire station the other day. I was able to give up the younger two and enjoy a morning with Carson and his preschool friends.

Three boys in the tub

If it looks like he's having fun....

You may be mistaken....

I think he was a little traumatized...

By taking a bath...

with his two older brothers.

Oh Mr. Sun....Sun....Mr. Golden Sun

Can you see it?

The sun is shining! See it right there on Bennett's face?

It came out yesterday.

And we ran out to enjoy it.

We played hopscotch, went for a walk and

were so happy we could draw on the sidewalk and not be cooped up in side.
And the best part was that it came out again today. We enjoyed a trip to the zoo with friends and Declan even ate lunch on the picnic table.
We've missed you Mr. Sun!

Spring Flood 2010

Saturday morning as I was cooking breakfast I looked out the window and noticed that the river had come up over its banks. Just 12 hours before we had commented that it was pretty close to the edge of the bank. We didn't really think much about it and packed up the boys to go to the sportsmen show.

Two hours later we got home and immediately noticed the river was much higher. I'll admit, I started freaking out, but Trevor and our neighbor didn't seem to think it was a big deal. They just kept putting stakes out there marking the water. It must be a man thing!

By Sunday morning the river was getting really close to our house. Close enough for us to panic, or at least I did, Trevor's pretty laid back, he never shows much panic or nervousness. You see on Saturday morning when the river was much farther away Trevor made the comment that if the water got to the "big tree" (the one on the left side of this picture) we would start moving things upstairs. I think all I said was, "Holy Crap its to the big tree." I don't think either of us ever thought it would get that far.

It had spread over towards our playground too. We made a few phone calls to see if sandbagging was in our future. I was fairly certain it was, Trevor and our neighbor.....not so much. The thing these pictures don't show very well is the slope in our yard. It's fairly steep and unless you are standing on the other side of the park, by the playground or the river, you don't really notice it.

We got in the car to go check things out. This picture doesn't show the angle either but its as close as I could get to getting a picture of the back of our house without getting wet and muddy.

We drove down to Falls Park to check things out there and it was insane. The amount of water running through there was the most I've ever seen. Which really doesn't say much since we've only lived here 3 years. But believe me when I tell you it was alot and it was loud and really neat to see.

Usually we can climb on most of these rocks. Most of them were either under water or no where near being safe enough to climb on.

By Sunday late afternoon we noticed that the water was starting to go down, you can see it on the tree lines. I started to breath a sigh of relief. Then around 5pm I noticed huge chunks of ice floating down the river. I wish we had videotaped it (that would require a working video camera). It was insane to see. They just kept coming and coming and coming. Large sheets of ice, big trees rushing down the river, crashing into trees and loosening up all this water in the park.

By this morning the water was down considerably. Thank God. It looks like we should be ok. Thank you to everyone for your prayers. Thank you to all our friends who offered to help. What a blessing to know how many people would jump right in and help us save our house.

Our weekend

Beside making sure our house didn't flood (pictures on that are coming) we had a pretty low key fun weekend.

The boys broke out their own camera this weekend.

Trying to take as many pictures as mommy.

Bennett enjoyed some tummy time, rolled over once for daddy and tried some bananas.

We went to Falls Park to check out all the water.

The boys ran around like crazy kids enjoying the fresh cool air.

Here's hoping warmer weather comes soon because this kids noggin no longer fits in this hat. But its to cute to not wear, even if it doesn't fit.

Photoshop Fun

I've submerged myself in a new fun hobby. Photoshop Elements. It's completely addicting and completely over my head. But I'm learning and while I'm learning you get to enjoy the fruits of my labor. Or just some cute pictures of my kids with some fun edits added. Enjoy!!

A Day of Firsts

Today was a big day in our house. Lots of new things for one big five month old.

He rolled over! Twice! From front to back. He was pretty shocked when it happened I think. I guess this means I can't just throw him on the bed, changing table, kitchen counter, etc anymore. Darn...I enjoy that baby convenience. And I suppose this means we should try getting a baby gate installed somewhere in the future. Which means I need to start bugging Trevor about it now so its done before he's crawling...oh how I tease.

We also ventured into the world of baby cereal today. He seems to be a little piggy lately both during the day and at night. Hopefully giving him some baby cereal will help him (and me) sleep better.

I drug the highchair out of its 2 year storage and wiped and scraped all the crusty food off it. Apparently when we put it away we forgot the minor part of cleaning it. Yum!

He did better then I expected. And he may have actually liked it.

And despite this messy face I think some actually made it down his gullet.
