Twas the Night Before...

I wish I could say I was writing this the night before but as I type this it is 4:13am, just 5 hours from your birth, and I can't sleep. Most of that is due to being so uncomfortable but some of it is due to an extreme amount of anxiety, anxiousness and excitement I have.

It's been almost 3 years exactly since we welcomed a new baby into this world. 3 years and I feel like I have forgotten everything. In a large way I feel very unprepared although I'm not sure one every feels totally prepared to become a mom. I have forgotten what its like to be so sleep deprived you can't see straight. I've forgotten what its like to hold a new baby. I've forgotten what its like to smell a baby. I've forgotten what its like to nurse a baby. But I have not forgotten what its like to love a new baby and to be so proud from the moment you enter the world kicking and screaming

This pregnancy has been closely watched. More closely then my other 2. I have 65 different ultrasounds pictures of you. It's been amazing! Just in the past 3 weeks I have had 6 ultrasounds and I have seen your face, feet and hands in 4D. Praise the Lord you have passed every Biophysical Profile with flying colors. 8 out of 8 every time! You have been practicing your breathing and moving like a future gymnast inside me. We are so blessed to know that you have been tolerating my large amount of fluid (polyhydramnios) so well.

Your two brothers are also very excited to meet you. I'm not sure they totally understand what is about to happen but they have been talking about you non stop. It changes every day, minute to minute really, whether they want a brother or a sister. Either way your daddy and I know they will be great big brothers, protectors and friends to you.

You also have 4 grandparents who are eagerly awaiting your arrival. Soon you will be showered with love and an abundance of gifts from all of them. You will be spoiled as I am sure either grandma will ever want to put you down.

I'm not sure whether people are more excited to find out if you are a boy or a girl or if they are more excited to see just how much you weigh. You see with this large amount of fluid you have also been measuring big too. (I'll be sure to thank you for that later!) One week ago your estimated weight was 11lbs 5oz. No I'm not even exaggerating. But I doubt you weigh that much. I think you may weigh more then Carson did at birth (9lbs 6 oz) but I'm not sure how much. They also told us he was 11lbs just a few days before his birth. I'm guessing you are somewhere in the 10lb range and I'm thanking God that I'm having a c-section!

So Little One time is quickly winding down. It's almost time to wake your daddy and get ourselves ready to go to the hospital. We are praying for the doctors who will be performing my c-section and we are praying that you are happy and healthy baby. Our life is about to change, we are about to become a family of 5 and your daddy and I are about to become outnumbered! We are thrilled. May God Bless you not only today but everyday of your long life.

We Love You!

Passing Time

This weekend we've tried to stay busy as we count down the days, hours and minutes until Wednesday. It seems all of us are a little stir crazy. So we enjoyed a nice walk today at a place you would think is out in the country but is actually smack in the middle of town.

There were a few bridges to cross.

A few fish to watch jump.

A few minnows swimming around.

Lots of tall grass.

Some major milk weed.

And some quality time with daddy.

Fall and Leaves and Mowing

I LOVE FALL! I love the smell, I love the weather, I love watching the leaves change color, I love the apples and pumpkins. Love it! Not such a fan of what comes after fall but I'm choosing to ignore that and just enjoy fall hoping it lasts until AT LEAST Christmas.

Hey, I can dream can't I?

One of the best things about our house is all the trees. But I have a love/hate relationship with them. I love how they look, how old they are, how they keep our yard shaded BUT I hate mowing around them and raking all their blasted leaves. We have 6 trees in our yard, the most of anyone in this neighborhood. 6 trees that are 30+ years old. Oh and I should mention we live in/on/next to a park....

So really we have more like 106 trees in our yard. It's beautiful really but oh the raking. I keep praying for a strong southerly wind to just blow them straight out of our yard. No such luck. In fact it seems our house sits just at the right angle that we get all the leaves. Last year I believe we had over 30 bags of MULCHED (that would be chopped up into really small pieces!) bags of leaves. But, the boys love it and so does my husband. And so last weekend we made our first leaf pile. It was small really, but the boys loved it. And in a few weeks we should be making the World's Largest Leaf Pile again!

And this year we will be putting them to work.

Like father and son and son.

More Baby Pictures

Just can't get enough of that cute chubby baby face. I counted my ultrasound pictures today and I have 61 total. And I still have one more ultrasound left. Its a little crazy but so fun to see and since I have so much fluid the pictures have been fabulous. 6 more days and we'll get to meet him or her.

And this picture for some reason keeps uploading on its side. But it is a picture of the foot and the hand playing with the toes. So cute!

Apple Picking

This weekend we did one of the best fall activities around...at least I think so.

We went Apple Picking even though it felt nothing like fall and more like the middle of summer.

The boys

were pretty excited

to carry their own baskets

and pick their own apples

one from almost every tree

and stop for some pictures with daddy

and Declan learned

that he really

really

enjoys eating apples

at least 4 to be exact

Carson wasn't such a fan of eating them(until we got home and it involved Carmel)

and he's not a fan of Woolly Bears

but Declan doesn't mind them

so we filled 3 baskets
and enjoyed our 2nd to last weekend as a family of 4.

Welcome!

Welcome to our new blog! Please make sure to bookmark our new site so you can keep up with all our happenings. All our old postings can be found here now too!

We are just 2 weeks away from our new arrival. Hard to believe its that close. We've had a very busy few days, weeks and months as we've tried to finish our basement in order to accommodate our growing family. All of us our very excited to sleep in our new rooms for the first time tonight. Here's hoping that the boys do well with the room switch. There are still a few things that need to be done...trim work, doors, and some laminate or ceramic tile in the hallway but its good enough for us to move in. MANY THANKS to our parents who helped us get this far!

Looking into my new closet.

And in case you've forgotten what this wall used to look like....

I posted a picture to jog your memory. It was a beauty wasn't it.

And the boys' new room with their bunk bed in 700 pieces. Surprisingly it only took Trevor and I about an hour last night to reassemble it.

Only 1 doctor appt and 4 ultrasounds left until this baby makes his or her entrance. I'm so ready its not even funny anymore. The baby is still doing great despite an enormous amount of fluid in me. I go again on Friday and they will do a weight check to see just how big he or she is getting. Here are some pictures from yesterday's visit.

Zoo

Last week while daddy was off for Labor Day we visited the zoo.

We rode the train.

Something we only do when daddy is around so it was a special treat.

We fed the goats.

Who are ALWAYS hungry.

We fed the ducks.

We played on the sculptures.

But mostly we enjoyed a day with daddy!

36 Weeks

This Tuesday will mark 36 weeks. Just 3 weeks from Thursday this baby will make its entrance into the world. Holy Crap! I think it's time to start freaking out a bit. You see our basement is still under construction and the nursery is a storage room at the moment. I'm not sure the crib will be up before he or she is here. Funny how with your 3rd things like that happen. Carson's room was up and decorated before I hit 20 weeks. But hopefully, with a little luck, that will all change in 3 weeks as we switch every single bedroom around in this house in order to accommodate our growing family. I'm hoping to maintain my sanity in the next 3 weeks which I'm not sure is possible. Good news for me....I don't have to move ANY furniture.

I've been feeling big and large and tired and crabby and hot and large, oh I said that already, well basically every feeling one has in the waning weeks of pregnancy. I'm going in for weekly visits and ultrasounds now since the baby is so big and I have alot of fluid. Last Monday the baby was measuring at a nice, plump, 8lbs 1oz. Ultrasounds can be off by a pound either way...let's hope they are! 10 days before Carson was born they told me he was 11lbs and he was "only" 9lbs 6oz....something tells me that this baby will beat that!

So we wait with growing excitement for this new baby, trying to come up with a name and enjoying the last few weeks as a family of 4. And just for fun here is a belly pic of my ever growing belly.

This Ones For The Dogs

Hard to believe but Emily has been a part of our family for almost 2 months now. Carson adores her. This morning he was up at the crack of dawn to take her for a walk with daddy. He likes to help daddy train her and he loves getting her to play fetch. The other day we were in the car with her and she was whining....

Carson: Emily is sad mommy

Me: Yeah, she just wants to get out of the car.

Carson: I think she needs a friend. Maybe we should go get her brother! (He was at the shelter when we got her.

He's also mentioned more then once that grandma can keep the kitties and we can just get another dog. Ha, one dog at a time sweetheart.

Declan on the other hand could really care less. He loves to go to the dog park and play with all the little dogs. He likes having her around when she's doing what he wants but if she has other plans then Declan gets crabby with her. The other day in the car the conversation went like this...

Carson: I love Emily mommy.

Me: Me too honey.

Declan: I don't love her mommy.

I guess he's being honest?? In all seriousness he has gotten better with her but its still a day to day thing whether he wants her around.
