Apple Picking

I love fall cooler temperatures, pumpkins, sweaters, boots, apples, football and falling leaves. It is my favorite season. This past weekend we ventured to the apple orchard to do some apple picking. I was finally feeling well enough to do some walking, the weather was perfect and there was no reason to watch the Vikings on tv...it was the perfect afternoon.

To say Bennett was a fan of freshly picked apples was an understatement. He ate somewhere along the lines of 4 or 5 apples, we quite counting.

Daddy and his boys.

Our first picture as a family of 6. It only took 2.5 weeks!

All things Fall

I love fall. Who doesn't? Cooler weather, crisp air, football, chilli, leaves, pumpkins, etc. It's all fun, good and delicious. We've spent a majority of our afternoons outside this fall. The weather has been fantastic and we are trying to soak it all in before we are stuck within these four walls for the winter.

We finally bought a leaf blower and would you believe it's provided more fun then just blowing leaves?

We've had plenty of leaf fights.

I think I've been on the wrong end of most of them.

We've buried ourselves in leaves.

We visited the pumpkin patch in shorts.

And picked 7 pumpkins to bring home!

We visited another pumpkin patch with Declan's preschool. No shorts this time, it was 8am!

Why are my kids on the roof?

A Weekend for Boys

How many boy related things can 3 boys, their daddy and their grandparents do in one weekend?

One: Climb a deer stand.

Two: Shoot a gun.

Is that my son putting bullets in a gun?

Three: Enjoy the fall scenery.

Four: Four wheel. Four wheel and Four wheel.

Five: Hang out in the woods with grandma.

Apple Orchard

We visited the Apple Orchard last weekend. We've been going to the same orchard for three years now. What a difference a year makes.

Last year when we went I was about ready to burst, literally. I was just a mere 11 days shy of a new little boy. Shudder...I was really uncomfortable in case that's not completely obvious in this picture.

And the year before that Declan looks like a baby, he was, its just hard to remember.

This year it was Bennett's first year and he was delighted.

If he had more then 2.5 teeth he probably could have eaten that apple whole.

Daddy's good for hoisting up big boys.

So they can rrrreeeeaaaccchhhh the apples way up in the tree.

Little boys who are almost 4 are good for carrying heavy baskets of apples.

Little boys who are almost 1 are good for cute pictures and banging apples together.

Kindergartners are good for asking to have their picture taken all by themselves.

We picked 35 pounds of apples.

We played with the new dogs, tasted our apples, ate caramel and drank hot cider. It was all delightful!

And we'll be back next year (or next week even).

Deer Hunting

November is hunting month in our house. And as the only girl I'm pretty much outnumbered in the excitement for it. Trevor spent two weekends trying to get his deer. This picture is from the first weekend...he was unsuccessful in getting one for himself but he played a pretty good part in getting some of these.

He did manage to get some great shots of the sunset.

So the 2nd weekend we all headed up to the farm. The boys were thrilled to hunt deer. They even had their own holsters and boom guns.

"Mommy come look at Daddy's deer. It's a Mommy deer. He shot it when it was trying to get away with his boom gun. Bam Bam! He cracked it open and got all the guts out. The guts are still out there." `Declan

And when they weren't deer hunting they were busy riding the new four wheeler and grandpa's tractor. Trevor says Declan wasn't getting squished but from the looks of this picture I'd beg to differ!

And me? What did I do while they hunted for deer?

I hung out with this little guy and slept when he slept which was the best thing I could have done.

And the boys laid around too...

checking out their brother.

Fall or Winter?

In between snows this weekend (yes, its snowed twice even though there is no evidence of it in this picture) the boys went out to rake leaves. This is only a small fraction of the leaves that we will have to rake. Lucky for me, I'm out of commission this year!

It's been down right cold. Fall weather should not requite hats, mittens and our winter coats! But the boys could have cared less. On Sunday morning Declan requested that daddy, "turn on the snow machine again." Oh if he only could, he would! Seems the 2 older boys are cut from the same snow loving blood as my husband!

They wanted the snowmobile out and snowmen made and snowballs thrown but all we had was leaves and a few flakes at this moment.

The leaf pile ended up being taller then Declan.

And eventually everyone jumped in...even Emily!

The entertainment lasted for a few hours! We're hoping the leaves dry out from the snow so we can do some more leaf pile jumping!

And then the snow started coming down and we tried to catch it with our tongues. If it wasn't Oct 11th I would have thought it was gorgeous out but it is WAY to early for this business. Carson insisted his tasted like grapes.

Declan wasn't sure he wanted to taste any of it.

And Bennett stayed snuggled deep inside the Baby Ktan!
